for the barbs are going POTTY! Just back from a very brief trip, to two very much second-string waters run by two different clubs - water that I don't know well, too.

You may have a point.... The weather forecast had the first cold snap due this coming weekend but that was at the beginning of the week. The weather forecast has now changed. The change in Atlantic Lows (see metcheck) has got more wild, rainy weather rolling in as we speak - wind, rain and thunder - eek - are you wet in the South West yet? Now if we had some clues to what weather forecast those Barbel were using...... - Dr Barbus That which is everybodys business is nobodys business.

The rivers of the South East aren't exactly sweeping Barratt and other, more salubrious Exec. Homes into the Channel, John. But, my word, if you look for barbelly spots, then try a bait in them...
The barbs stocking up now, laying in their larder for the winter, even the ones that have been pounded, even caught, all summer long. Zebadee said ... for I'm off out again tomorrow morning. |

Stay out there mate!
Don't know what its like down South but just back from my river and I'd swear every fish in the river was on the feed. Foot up, hint of chocolate, mild and drizzly - it doesn't get any better! Only my second ever brace from the rock 'ard river! |

I have returned, but only until early tomorrow | ||

Fascinating day. Much learned about a river and its fish from someone I met on the riverbank; plus had the shortest, fattest barbel (9-9) that I have ever seen, a veritable "barrel with fins" that I thought was a Common (bronze flash in coloured water) until it surfaced, kited briefly in midstream, showed me a short, high, triangular flag of a dorsal, before belting off on a run downstream.

Lucky man - glad I got out Sunday because Sunday evening was as good as it gets barbel weather-wise, but Monday morning dawned cold and clear and it's staying that way. The leaves are tumbling from the trees, the sun is low in the morning sky and the windows are a misty mystery. Time to turn my thoughts to grayling until the next set of westerlies come rolling in.
