It appears to be the trend as the colder weather fronts move in that barbel tend to be caught on smaller baits, i.e.: 6mm pellets or small boillies.
Do you think this simply down to they don't need as much to sustain them at this time of the year or they have been hammered all season and get wary of the normal sized baits presented to them?
Logic would dictate that after swimming in faster flowing flood waters for a few days, they would need to feed again to get there energy levels back up or is that too simple of an analysis?
