I posted recently about my bad experiences with the latest spools of Trilene XL mono which had been my favourite hooklength mono.
I have therefore been trying Shimano Antares Silk Shock mono - first impressions after a number of sessions and a number of fish are superb.
I'm using the 12lb BS (5.35 kg) which is thin at 0.220mm, very supple and limp, clear, very smooth and is very, very strong. I've had fish from rocky, snag strewn swims and had no problems with abrasion and I've twice had to pull for break when I've snagged up (hook not a fish) and on both occasions the Korum S3 hook (which I also rate) has bent out of shape before the line has snapped. I'll keep you posted but I cannot recommend it too highly. Very cheap at about £6 for 150m too!
