Bought a 8000 XTEA to hurl huge feeders into the Trent. What an improvement on the GTE-B. I use GTE-B 5000's on smaller venues and an old 6010 and the new 8000 XTEA on the flood rods. Buy one, you will not regret it.

you can buy the big 10k one and lob the rig so far missing the trent and landing in the teme....
sacasim is the lowest form of wit but still very funny. |

What's the spool size like on the 5000 XTEA? I'm thinking more of physical size rather than capacity? I have the old single-handled 5010 baitrunner and the size of the reel is great, but I think the spool itself could do with a larger diameter. I'm thinking of changing and would like the bigger spool, but not the overall size/weight of a 6000 since I think it may unbalance my rods.

5000 GTE spool diameter (measured at front lip) = 45.3mm
5000 XTEA spool diameter (measured at front lip) = 52.4mm So spool larger, but reels have same line capacity. Gear ratio slightly lower on 5000 xtea at 4.6:1 The solid aluminium spool has increased the weight - the 5000 xtea weighs in at a chunky 540g. Cheers Bob |
