Just been having a similar chat with a mate and we both seem to swear by the ESP Drenchwear stuff.
I use the normal coat and wear layers underneath it (thermals, t-shirt, shirt, hooded fleece, normal fleece) Most times I don't need the actual jacket, only when it's raining. I also wear their fleece lined bib & brace with a pair of thermals and a pair of fleece lined walking trousers. No problem at all with ease of movement, and you can take off or add layers as you see fit. Much better than a bulky great suit IMHO. Don't forget to get a warm titfer though Cheers Scott |

i'm deciding whether to buy a trakker armo set or a TF gear sharkskin set...both two of the best in my eyes.
i have some prologic camo stuff, can't fault it,top quality gear. |

Sundridge - superb. I've sat out in the freezing cold, the snow and very heavy rain and my Sundridge suit has been fantastic. One of the best things I've bought.

My drenchwear is showing signs of that Gary.
For winter i've got a sundridge too, you won't get cold in one at all. Bit too warm though if you've got quite a walk to your peg. |

Gary, I re-proof mine at the end of every season and its as good as the day I bought it. Have sat out in some real downpours in it and been fine.
Clean as much mud and brim snot off as possible with a sponge and some warm water, then bung it in the washing machine. The trick is not to use any detergent or softener. Go to your local Blacks or walking/camping shop and pick up of the Nikwax Techwash, it will clean the rest of the dirt off and re-proof your coat at the same time. You can do this as often as you wish. Cant argue about Sundridge - the number of people on here that recommend them speaks volumes, I would question whether they are suited to the mobile approach though. I have one of their big jackets and I dont bother with it anymore. By the time Ive walked to my first peg Im sweating like a pig and end up taking it off and then getting cold! Repeat this for every time that I move and I soon decide to sit down in 1 peg for the remainder of the day (which Sundridge is excellent for, I should add!). I just prefer the adaptability and ease of movement of the layer system must be the walker in me. Cheers Scott |
