I'm fancying having a go at roving/rolling using a centrepin, and plan to use braid as mainline for the extra "touch" factor.
Can anyone recommend a good one to go for?
Thanks,
R.

Thanks for all suggestions.
I've ordered 100m of Climax Sinking 11.8lb, and am bidding on 300 yds of 15lb moss green Powerpro. I'll try both and see how I get on. Cheers, R. |

Whats wrong with mono...........................
Must admit i use Powerpro myself. I buy it from Cabalas. |

Why use braid? | ||
|
Nothing wrong with mono - I use 10lb Maxima on my fixed-spool reels.
I just fancy having a go at roving/rolling and thought I'd give braid a go as it apparently gives you more "touch" as it doesn't stretch. I'm not convinced about its abrasion resistance though. Only time will tell ... R. |

power pro, again from cabelas, superb, sometimes.
unless of course on the Ribble, then Mono, have to say that i actually prefer Mono now, no matter where i`m fishing, used braid on the Dove this season, fishing to snags in the low and clear water, tightened down clutch and more hookpulls than fish, switched to Mono, much better ratio of fish to bites to the bank, les |

Robin sorry mate i put a 'tounge in cheek' icon in mate, it's a fabulously long debate the mono v braid one and i bet a few rolled their eyes when they saw that.
Not so long ago someone somewhere posted a link about fake Powerpro and how to spot it, it seems to turn up on E-Bay quite alot. My advise is to use a reputable dealer when buying it, it's far too expensive to buy so dont get ripped off. A little tip, if ordering from abroad, ask for it gift wrapped it helps beat the import duty |

braid for rolling.....

dont win the bid on the powerpro mate, you want it in about 30lb as fine diameter braid doesnt create enough reistance for the flow to take the meat down in current....
30lb diameter braid has the thickness to be trundled down in the current. |

I use 30lb PowerPro which has the diameter of 8lb mono.

Agree with what's been said above. I do like powerpro under normal conditions on the rivers I fish. With braid in general you do get the 'touch factor', which is a big bonus.
For extreme snag fishing however; I too have reverted back to mono, as braid hit and hold means far to many hook pulls in my experience. Neil |

Re: braid for rolling.....

OK, I did win the auction for the 15lb PowerPro. It was from Angling Experience (Graham Elliot's site) so I've asked him if he can send the 30lb line instead, mentioning the advice I've had from BFW!
I should have some Climax Sinking 11.8lb on it's way, so I'll compare that with the PowerPro (either 15lb or 30lb depending on what I get sent). Cheers, R. |

Re: braid for rolling.....

Graham is sending me 30lb line as requested. Excellent.
I've also asked if I can have 30lb Climax instead of the 11.8lb I ordered. Might be too late for that though if it went in the post today. Can't wait to get the 'pin on and trundle some meat down the Nidd! R. |
