Speaking of rubber bands... |
Lead | |
|
I was in a Chemist's shop earlier today, looking for some elasticated, fabric-covered, ponytail hairbands for my bed-bound elderly Ma. Found them okay and, on the same rack, something else VERY VERY interesting: small, silicon rubber, hairbands in a clear plastic tube - hundreds of them in each tube - for £1.50 a tube. The bands are probably too large for anything but a 20mm pellet, but with a loop knotted into them ... or doubled or trebled... The bands come in tubes of the following colours: clear, black, browns and tan, even pink and multicolours... Messrs Gardner etc: EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!

Get latex bands on ebay - cheap as chips and usually found under dog grooming accessories - available in lots of colours. Used to put top knots of fur on small dogs like yorkies. Try that with an Akita and your bits are probably in jeopardy

Was braiding my nipper's hair for a kiddies party last year when I suddenly stopped and stared in trance-like wonderment at the elastic bands I was using. About 12mm diameter in black, thousands of them for about two and six.
Anyway, I immediately forgot about my little girl and started to make up some hooklengths with these rubber bands tied onto the hair. Took the lot to the Trent the next day. They work an ABSOLUTE treat when stretched double around a 14mm pellet and, as the pellet softens, the band digs into the pellet becoming almost invisible. Bad news is that I couldn't buy a bite with them, maybe 'cos they smelled so strongly of elastic. My normally aspirated pellets on t'other rod accounted for about nine fish if memory serves. Oh well. ATB Mark. |

Looks as if I'll be soaking the ones I got today in Hemp or Salmon Oil.

Ahhh the baby oil in the..................no.....must remember it's a family site, no bedroom stuff allowed
Oil will rot latex but I would suggest that before that becomes a problem you would need to replace that rig due to damaged link material or a blunted hook. |
