Tried many pellets (Halibuts, Halips, Salips, Trigga, Trigga Ice and various offerings from dynamite baits and CC Moore amongst others) but none catch better than Elips.
For night fishing and flood conditions, alway seem to do better on boillies (On the Rivers I fish anyway). Neil |

In no particular order I will be using this season:
Boilies, Elips, Halibuts, Maggots, Meat and I might even try and catch a barbel on sweetcorn which i have never done. |

Obviously depends on conditions, big smelly bait in flood ( usually boile wrapped in paste ), but overall it has to be Elips.

I would have to say elips then boilies as elips have got me many a barbel but boilies will be this years trial as never used. But the ones i have made and tried on a couple of big lakes have produced plenty of fish and of good size and when me and friend went walking the bank barbel spoting took some and the barbel nailed instantly so im sure these will get a few

John,
Glad you survived the initial onslaught and apologies if we mistook you for someone less favourable. Good luck with your barbeling. It'll be spam and 12ml boilies (Hinders Blitz) for me this year, fairly much the same as last year. Wurzel http://www.barbelzone.co.uk/

Meat for me cheap and easy.
Also very selective the way I use it. Tatty... . . . ... |

I had good results last season using disolving pellets as a hookbait, the ones i use take 40 mins to breakdown worked very well in winter fished as a single hookbait.

For me , the number one "go to" Barbel bait has to be a big lump of Pond/Trout Pellet paste, liberally spiked with Tesco's Korma curry powder.

Steve C,no Tesco's in the Big Easy, nor Barbel either worse luck. Lots of terrific fishing though, plenty of Carp, Cats and awesome saltwater/marsh fishing. The pellet/curry paste did catch me stacks of Barbus back in blighty and I have to admit that I really miss the Kennet and Loddon. Looking forward to some great Redfish sport soon however!
