Well, was updating my fishing diary/log last night. Have had 19 sessions so far this season and so far have caught 21 barbel and 19 other fish - so averaging just over 1 barbel and 2 fish per session
the breakdown of Barbel by rivers is Teme 5 sessions 10 Barbel 1 Blank Lower Severn 4 session 0 Barbel 4 blanks Dane 1 session 0 Barbel 1 Blank Cherwell 5 sessions 0 Barbel 5 blanks and Warks Avon 4 session 11 Barbel 0 Blanks. What do you reckon?? Cheers

well as i mentioned.. been away, went down to Somerset for the week, nice lil caravan park with a 3 acre lake in, had lots of nice skimmers with some nice bream thrown in (4-5lb) in the first few days then the fishin suddenly went dead, so we moved onto the local River Brue for the last 2 days where me and my parents caught lots of bits, have a club outing out there mid September - so i got the advantage!
Tried fishing for the big eels in the lake with no joy, only catching bootlaces. Think a session on the Avon is in order, not fished their for ages!

Kev, they have changed the bus routes without telling Derek, the no 33 doesn't stop at Ringwood anymore and he ended up at Bournmouth

you need to move just a little up the coast to Christchurch Harbour, because I think that was where Derek is fishing mate! Strong Rumours of VERY large Barbel in the tidal reaches where the h.a meets the sea! (Brackish water) Only problem I see from Derek's point of view is he doesnt cast only "Lowers" is the term used I believe, so when a wave resides back his bait must be exposed till the next wave covers it!! But its nice to see real pioneering spirit Good on yer Derek!!  Stew, think its a bit underhand exposing Lesliefishermans new Venue.......how would you feel if I was to publish your whereabouts of large barbs???????  Kev |
