Your opinions plz

Posts: 587 (06/08/06 22:35) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	if im on big rivers with alot of flow i keep the rod tip high to keep as much of the line out of the water as possible. i normally use long hook lengths in these situations to avoid line bites..... (i also use this set up in flood) in small rivers there isnt normally so much flow that would create any problems with keeping in contact with the lead, and bows in the line moving the rig so steathly approach with the line pinned down and shorter hooklengths

I now fish with my rods tips near the surface and I dont seem to have a problem at the moment, however once the river starts flowing a bit more, ill have to revert to rods in the air and moving them everytime a boat/bird comes past!!!

I use backleads anyway so line angle doesn't generally concern me too much

Besides, its ok poking one rod through a gap but what about the other three?

Posts: 2713 (09/08/06 16:37) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	hi,well believe this or not.a few seasons ago me and a mate found a nice couple of swims on the dorset stour[ringwood ac]in front of us was thick beds of bullrushes,which although wasnt a problem the cabbages where the whole bottom was covered with them,so i did what i used to do for tench,and raked a few cabbages out just to have a few clear spots to place the bait[2rake heads bolted back to back]within 20 minutes there where a few barbel grubbing around on the bottom,and ended up having 5 barbel between us that day,the noise surely must have spooked them initialy,but they must have been attracted to the stiring up of the bottom to have come back,so you just never know until you try these things.cheers derek.
