He has asked if I could make some enquiries on his behalf with regards to fly-fishing for barbell in the South East. I wonder do you have any contacts, websites, fishing clubs info, so I can research this further??" Please could you respond to this thread or email me with any replies. The request came from a chap (non barbel angler) who has a French friend who fly fishes for barbel in France. He is coming over to Tunbridge Wells to stay with him for a while and was hoping to fly fish for barbel in the UK. Thanks again Claire

Posts: 1678 (03/08/06 16:24) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	For the Tunbridge Well's area, the Medway is probably the nearest 'barbel' river and i bet that Nathan has filled you in on that one I very much doubt there would be much chance of getting a barbel on the fly as the rivers are just not the same sort of 'style' as the French ones (i.e. not the ideal sort of habitat for catching them on the fly). Perhaps he could fly fish for the chub instead..? Great sport on the fly rod and alot of fun! Plus, depending upon the river, they are not hugely difficult to catch so always the chance of some decent sport.
