Posts: 0 (16/03/06 19:56) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I was talking to a good mate today,a big noise in the tackle trade,and he was telling me how the price of carbon has gone through the roof and will seriously affect rod prices soon,maybe six to twelve months down the road. The days of the cheap rods could soon be lost for ever,mores the shame. A quality Barbel rod planned and advertised may well be shelved due to this. Pons.

Think it was all ment to have started to increase by now? Think it was basically to do with China etc starting to demand far more of the product for telecommunication...........i think!

Posts: 4484 (16/03/06 20:23) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	To some VERY good rodbuilder out there in BFW Land Please contact me at wallisreels[Bacon Grill Central]@yahoo.co.uk (you know what to delete in the address; spammers and general questioners, please don't bother to mail - I wiped my mental hard-drive of a lot of fishy stuff awhile ago!), and quote me for the following: A 15ft Harrison Gti hollow-tip trotter, with full cork handle (you should know the right length for the rod) with either sliding ring reelfits or a first-class screw fitting. Rings: please quote for both alumina oxide and SiC sets. Flexcoat varnish finish on fine, black nylon wraps. No flash, logos, or silly cosmetic glitter. Supply in good rod bag. Price delivered to me in West London, in a tube containing three pieces (not a bent one containing upwards of six, please!). Over to you guys.

I remember Racing cars were struggling to get hold of carbon,so it is no new thing,but will affect us all. There are few substitute alternatives . Buy those hand built special Rods quick. Pons.

Bought a batch of petri dishes at work a while back and was told by the rep. that the price had gone up 'because the price of polystyrene's gone up, due to demand'. What can you do? Who are we to know the price of carbonfibre / polystyrene? Is this a racket?! Seriously, Chris, it would be a shame if a new rod model were shelved simply because of these very weird, alleged market fluctuations.

Now, that's a thought, considering the bagloads of lager cans, vodka miniatures, luncheon meat and meat product tins, hook and tackle packets et ruddy cetera (some artfully hidden, thoughtfully packed awy in their owners' plastic bags) I have removed from fellow "angler's" swims as I have roved the Colne and another Thames trib. in recent weeks. Hmm... Could you chuck in an Uzi or a Glok for the price, too...?
