For me last summer I made a little discovery. We was round a friends house whos garden backs onto a nice stretch of the Kennet (good barbel area infact) and after a gathering of 20 odd people at the barbeque had left we decided to do abit of night fishing. Noticing there was some chicken drum sticks left over from the barbeque I decided to use it with abit of garlic salt on it, only the chicken skin mind which was folded onto a size 6 many times which masked the hook shank. First cast produced a 12lb 14oz fish after only a 5 minute wait with 4 smaller fish later at around 9lb, 7lb, and 6lb.
The 12lb'er was obviously the biggest in the swim as the house is virtually in the town centre.
