Since I have been a BFW member, I can hosetly say I have learned a massive amount about barbel fishing. Some of the contributors on here have been quite humble and selfless too in offering advice and help.
It seems to me that those on here who really do know their onions have become lethargic, probably due to the fact that it's considered that most topics have been coverd and are in the archives. Maybe its because members fear that if they offer some thoughts someone will misinterpret or disagree and then we head for the negative aspect on this site.
I would like to see more threads on practical advice, threads that give members something they can really read about, take with them and employ on the bank. So what if location has been done before, or baits and flavourings, or rigs, or even fish behaviour, I say lets do them again and again and again. It has to be an improvement on 'What coloured hat do you wear when you go fishing?' or What make of batteries do you use in your torch?' I think you get my meaning. Once in a while a true gem comes up for example there was a great piece on rivers in flood recently. I know there has to be something for everyone, but have we really exhausted all the practical topics on barbel fishing, and if so can we not re visit them occasionally without the 'thats boring' attitude prevailing. There must be new visitors to this site who would benefit a lot from this kind of thing.
