I don't know what it's like in the Midlands up but judging by the weather "Down South" today, I reckon it might be a special day/evening for shaking a boris by the tail.

Still a bit nippy in East Anglia, but warming up slowly, may get out for an hour or two this evening, if I can get away with it though!

Hi Graham, I have no idea what the weather is like over your way, over here in the West Country we have still had no rain!
It would take a weeks solid rain to put back even a reasonable amount of water into the rivers, and then three days to flush the rubbish through, before it would be ideal conditions. Allan Marshall

Andy (I lied about it being nippy, just went out for a fag and it was decidedly warm!) |

Graham, I would go today but my wife is cooking a roast dinner. She says I can go tomorrow, will I still be in with a chance of a fish or two?
Many thanks Darren (a Southerner) |

Oop North but not that far | ||

Here in the East Mids it's gone decidedly warmer, and we have had a drop of rain although I suspect not enough to raise water levels sufficiently and flush the rubbish through. Every little drop helps I suppose.
Get catching Graham I expect to see a big Thames double from you and Dick this season. Paul |

Still no real fresh water in the Ouse. Don't expect more than odd fish to be caught here and there. We should have about 18" of fresh water on the river by now.
The outlook is still f###ing dry. |

Hi All,
Out tomorrow for the day and eve, as you say Graham things down south have warmed up nicely. Quite windy today so leaves may be a problem but it looks good. Still need some rain though. Cheers Mark. |

Don't worry Andy you're not missing much, that swim so full of fish yesterday was empty today
like chris say's it is desprate for some rain, although the low water conditions are quite handy to suss out the gravel patches etc, it still don't make the fishing any easier i'm gagging for some floodwater action! bring on the rain cheers Dan |

Bright sunny morning, then cloudy. Later in the afternoon very cloudy a dozen drops of rain, and then cloudy again Had a 10.10 + 7 from the Kennet then moved to the Thames and had a 9.7. Ron. |

My roast dinner last night was worth staying in for and now I'm ready for some Barbel action tonight!
Weather for South (Bournemouth area) 09/10/03: Air temps. Min:12, Max:18, Westerly winds and overcast. Outlook is grim with night time temperatures plummeting over the next few days, so today is as good as its gonna get! Darren. |

Last time I listen to you Mr Elliott.....myself and a fellow BFWer blanked in spectacular style last night
We weren't alone either although we were fishing the "big" river and not the easy, small river like others I know When are you going to start guiding sessions on the Thames?? Ed. |

Re: Last night | ||

Sorry Ed.
Although Ron had one from the BIG River and some from the Kennet. I fished from 1.30 and apart from 5 small perch and a 5+ chub caught on the red spinner I found in a barbels mouth on the Loddon 2 seasons ago it was quiet till darkish. Dick joined me at 5ish and caught 3 or 4 chub up to.......... Well it went like this. Dick.. just had a massive chub. me/how big..6?......../Dick....Bigger, around 7! Didn't you weigh it? No it was only a chub!! What's he like! My swim livened up with a chub/ a 10.6 barb. I text him with the teasing words....."Chubber!!" He replied " Barbel God!" ...............Just before he landed the bigger one. Few more chub to me up to 5ish. Home. All on the BIG river. Ed. Graham |
