It seems clear to me that we have a real cross section of barbel anglers on this site, newcomers, old hats, traditional to ultra modern all fishing slightly different methods on different rivers and all methods probably equally effective on their day. But what do you really think makes a good barbel angler?
I know that this might take time to think about and i dont expect too many replies given the nature of the question, but if you have time, i think it would make good and interesting reading for all of us members.

, you cant do more than reach your goal you aim for, size matters little for specimen sized barbel is another matter entirely, as far as my thoughts go no matter what species you fish for if you can catch your intended quarry then you have done what you set out to do whether it be with a state of the art bang up to date latest gear or with a bamboo pole fishing is fishing and catching them is the aim, single species fishing is just a natural progression from there
