Tiger Nuts - ok for barbel? |

Thinking of giving these a try on the my local river but want to be sure they are ok to use first.
Can anyone confirm that barbel won't have any problems digesting them. If there are any doubts I'll knock the idea on the head. Thanks, Ed. |

I have used them on the Relief Channel at Fishers Green Years ago for the River Carp. Tigers have to be prepared properly-and I caught a number of Barbel on them by accident- the biggest problem I found with Tigers nuts- they went straight through Carp and spread the shoal. Anyone who has done any river carping will know this is desirable. I would have thought there are far better baits out there than Tigers for Barbel and not one I would choose. As to them doing Barbel harm- Barbel are in the carp family and as long as the Tigers are soaked for 24 hours then boiled, they may act in a similar way to Carp. I would also be interested to know if there is any scientific research on the effects of Tigers Nuts to Barbel. Bob |

Yes Apache on a hair.
I had little luck with Tigers when I fish the Lea but it was higher up river than Fishers so have not bothered again. As for preparation to start with I would by some of those pre prepared one's by Dynamite. Give it a go and let us know ! Cheers
