Had a bit of debate with a couple of guys on this one.
What do you reckon you spend a year on your fishing if you include bait, food, tackle, petrol and of course tickets.
Maybe I'm underestimating, but I reckon on a round grand!!!
What about you???

The cost is so frightening I don't want to know. Just done a quick calclation on petrol, I reckon that alone costs me over £400.

Oh my god!!! | ||

I hope I fall in the under £1000 bracket, but the frequency I change my gear, buying new rods and reels (two of each on average per year), I'm probably kidding myself, and it should be more like £2000.
If you never hear from me again, its because my missus has just seen thisssssssssssssssssssss aaaaaaarrrggghh............. |

I am affraid to add it all up but I could, as I have to have a seperate bank account for my fishing, and keep every recipt for monies spent on clubs, societys, bait, tackle and petrol.
Isobel won't let me spend current account money, on tackle etc. I am a man really under the thumb. Allan Marshall

Neil. Could you do another level up for the Biggun. He wants to add in the food!

Re: Annual fishing outlay??? | ||

One could always set up a part time guiding business and offset the cost against tax, I beleive if the income from such a business is less than £15,000 PA there is no complicated tax return to fill in.

I must be in the £2,000 bracket as I rarely fish less than 50 miles from home. Even with no one to look over my shoulder anymore I still feel the same old guilt. Until a year or two ago my fishing was so sporadic I doubt if I spent £500 and most of that was on a week in Christchurch or Stourport.

I wish I hadn't seen this, I sat down and did a quick calculation, fuel and tickets alone are over £1,000. But will I cut back now I know how much it costs me? Will I as heck!

I was in the £1500 bracket and that's fine because I said to the missus : "You've only got the right to complain when you can fit all your shoes in my fishing rucksack. Now if there isn't anything else Amelda, I'm off fishing." I wish !
It's a scary amount but I do economise in other areas : I cut my own hair and don't use shampoo. Wurzel Gummidge |

Books....... | ||

Nick
My lady spends loads on books. So that is my defence. Blimey, thought it was, until I realised I spend a fortune on music. What with mags and CD's. Oh no, what do I spend there!!!! Must not take up golf.................. Neil |

Spend bugger all on petrol{can't drive,very sad!} as for bus/train fares not to mention the walking boots I wear out{average distance 4 mile round trip walking},it still must be a tidy sum!
