I see what you mean, but I have absolutely no idea.
Best to be logged in I suppose - incidentally, I never log out and it has never caused me any problem.

Richard
Sorry, have been away and only just seen your question. Bad news is that you cannot change from local to global. You have to register as global, and can use your same username etc, but you will lose your post count. see here paul4 |

Re: unusual profile | ||

Hi Paul,
when i have posted, usualy on the river reports section, there is a strange square next to my name under the last comment column. If you then view my profile from this screen it contains some foreign looking nonsense. If you view my profile after 'entering' the thread itself it displays normaly. Its not a big deal but people reading it may think I'm some sort of weirdo. Which I am not My only explanation is that someone else (maybe on another board?) has the same username? Any ideas? Matt |

Re: unusual profile | ||

Hi Matt
Had a look and you're right, it is another user with the same name. I wouldn't have thought this would be 'allowed' but the clue is that you are have a 'local user' account (for this forum only) and the other guy has a 'global account' (which allows posts on any Ezboard forum) Somehow Ezboard has got its knickers in a twist when you post. That little square is to do with having an avatar but ticking the wrong box in your profile details, something you don't have to worry about as it irrelevant in this case. You have a choice, either leave things as they are, or register as a new user with a different name - a word of explanation on the reports board will let people know whom you are and why. If you go for the new user option I would recommend you make sure you register as a 'globa' just in case you might want to post on another board in future, as some have wanted to. Hope that sorts your questions. paul4 |

Re: unusual profile | ||

Matt
I notice 'malc' on the W.Avon thread has the same situation, albeit with no foreign profile details Ezboard have updated their software in the last few days affecting the last comment column, and which has bugs. Looking into this there is a new feature (which I hate and have told them so) concerning avatars in that same column. Perhaps yours (and malcs) are the only two which show up a problem, and might just be part of the bug they still have. paul4 |

Re: unusual profile | ||

I think the bugs are fixed and all is working now - hopefully permanently
Please, anyone, let me know if there are still issues that need addressing. thanks paul4 |

Email notification of new posts - possible? | ||
|
Help thread moved to here
--------------------------------------------- From : willcatch : Can you tell me if it's possible to change a setting somewhere in my BFW account so that I'll get email notifications when a new post is made or when someone replies to one of my posts (as I am able to do with other online forums I use)? This would save me having to check back here all the time to look for replies etc. Thanks, Will Reply from paul4 : Sorry Will, not sure that facility is available as a global setting, but at a BFW daily post rate average of 140 your email would be going like the clappers You may wish to read this in case it does the second part of what you want? paul4 |

Photo Sizes in posts | ||
|
Hi Paul
Have just added a couple of photos in my reply to a post but notice they are bigger than the width of the screen and you have to move the page across to view the whole photo, any idea how I can make photos smaller when posting so I can sit them side by side for example. Cheers Jas |

Re: Photo Sizes in posts | ||

Hi Jas
Yes, they need to be "re-sized" - a difficult one to explain this. Email me and I'll help, rather than here on the boards. paul4 |

Is there a quote button on here for quoting somebody in a reply?

Re: Photo Sizes in posts | ||

Yes there is but you need to have the ezcodes option selected in formatting part of the reply post.
You need to highlight the text you wish to quote and copy this. Paste the text you wish to quote in a new post and highlight it once more. Now simply click on the quote button to the left hand side of the white text box and it will add code to the pasted text to make it show up as a quote. Personal Bests:- Barbel 11lb 13oz, Chub 6lb 4oz, Carp 18lb 7oz, Pike 9lb 2oz, Bream 9lb 1oz, Roach 1lb 5oz, Perch 2lb 0oz |

Re: Photo Sizes in posts | ||
Quote: Further to Paul's previous post, once you have clicked "Add Reply" you need to click on "ezCodes" alongside "Formatting" - once clicked this preference will be saved for next time (shown in your "My Control Centre / Account Preferences") Although not that obvious (I think) information relating to formatting posts can be found by clicking the "(?)" symbol adjacent to the button. This would give you this page |

Hi Christian
Unfortunately not. Since there is no search facility, at least one that works to any degree, refinements like this are no-go I'm afraid. paul4 |
