It's only a bit of fun The scenario is this; You are fishing from 6pm to 10pm and it's summer. You only have one rod. You can only fish from 'the swim'. -- So where would you cast, how would you bait and what tactics would you use? Here's the swim: The Swim! The near bank offers deeper water with good cover on the inside and mid-river. As this is deeper than the far bank this would appear to offer the more likely patrol route. I would expect the barbel to be laid up behind/just off the cabbages at Q7 which would offer shelter from predation and slower water in which to hold station. I would also anticipate that food/bait would be intercepted as it passed the end of the cabbage 'line' nearest the bank. Therefore fishing in the gap at Q7/Q8 should offer good opportunity with a static approach, or fishing the line of 7/8 down towards the whips on a running line approach. Dependant on size of fish anticipated, width of river/distance to Q7/8, and width of run, density of nearside weed would determine whether a rod and line or pole was used to fish the static bait. An alternative swim would be to U10, under the bush on the inside. SKYPE me - bb king or bfw_bbking

Then I would return a few years later with fixed lines, electro fishing gear, dynamite and a frogman suit and if that didn't work, I'd try a large piece of spam flavoured with curry on a size 2 barbless in K7.
