Cheers mate. Whats the stability like on gravel banks? Is it sturdy enough? Thanks again.

Very flimsy, plastic fittings prone to breaking. There are better pods available.

Mixed opinions I guess. I brought it anyway, but it's an updated version of the original, I have a steel one anyway so if it doesn't work to the way I
would want then I'll just get rid. I don't go Barbel fishing that much living in Scotland so I guess it will be okay for what I need it for.
If the worse comes to the worse and I have to send it back what are the best tripods for that amount of money £40??? Thanks in advance. |

Not the Korum one - great for roving due to its lightness but when put to the test on the Wye 2 weeks ago on a static session didnt manage to stop one of my
rods being dragged out of its seat by a 9 lb 'er

I bought one, used it once and then threw it in a pile of scrap metal in the garage, flimsy rubbish IMO. Johnnyfby uses this tripod which is very good but the Skypod is the best
that I have come across. However the skypod is heavy and takes a while to set up and is wholly unsuitable for roving. Mind you if I was roving I would not be
using a tripod, that is why I bought the Skypod.
There is a huge price difference as well, look at the link above and buy one they seem to be very reliable. Conrad |

You've bought well as for a light pod the TBR2 is very stable. I've certainly not had it pulled over on the take at any time, but I am able to stick the legs in the ground at the venues I fish (mainly on the Trent. I still prefer bank sticks on the Yorkshire rivers). Its weight makes it preferable for me to the other pod options out there that weigh a ton and hinder mobility.
Yes, some of the fittings are in plastic where they should be in brass but with care they'll last. Mine is in its third season now and I'm still happy with it.

I have the new korum one and like it but on a beach you could face problems, like any tripod a vicious take can pull them over. They just need to be anchored
slightly but on a bank which will take a bank stick they are quite good with less twist than others plus like said previously they are very light.

My korum one is going back.
It is just not stable enough to cope with barbel bites, particularly not on the hard banks of the Trent where i fish. Not recommended at all. I think i might try the Spro one this time

Brassneck and anybody else who's interested.
I would be willing to spend some time out on the Tidal to show anglers the SPRO Tripod and the range of other products from SPRO. I also sell the Cralusso range of products into tackle shops and use some of the products for my Barbel fishing. What I need is a location where my car is by the peg and is day ticket, now this can be Middle or Tidal. Any idea's ? I live in Lincoln, so its not difficult for me to get on the Trent. I would not be able to sell direct to any of you , but it would give you the chance to try the products "in use". It would give me chance to get some tips as well.

I have the TBR and it is pretty flimsy. As soon as I got it I started modifying it, changing the plastic studs for steel ones (after one sheared off).
I use it occasionally but not highly recommended. John MC What a kind offer, if I lived a little closer I would take you up on that. I have heard great things on the match scene about Spro products and I had a little play with one of their reels and was very impressed. If you want to do a good turn then explain to me how to get those Craluso Surf floats to work. I have tried but just can't get the hang of it. It doesn't help to have the instructions in pigeon English, or a video in Hungarian. |

Yes, thank you John it is indeed a kind offer.
I am fishing the Middle Trent tomorrow afternoon/evening and would absolutely welcome a trial. If you are available send me a pm, otherwise i'll let you know when i am back down again.

David.
Your Cralusso stockist can get hold of a DVD that has a talkover in English, it covers all the river floats and costs £6.99. Whats your location ? {wish it could be put on the page].
