Posts: 56 Jul 12 09 5:39 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	managed a few hours today, 3 chub and a dace on the stick 1 chub on the tip and lost 2 barbs one looked 7lb ish the other around 5. my own fault as the hook I was using just wasn't up to it. River started to rise and colour mid afternoon and the bites tailed off. Should be perfect tomorrow.

Posts: 387 Jul 13 09 8:59 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	First time on Dane on Sat night - great little river - 1st barb about 5lb ish - after 30 mins fishing - some knocks after but they soon stopped after the rain started. i have looked at the clubs running on the Dane - as i would like to get a ticket - not too bothered about the BIG fish - which club/stretch would give me the most chance of putting reasonable 5/6/7lb barbs in the landing net? PM me if preferred. thanks

Last season i had around 60 tho i think only 5 were decent, 4 between 6.14 and 7.8 and one at 9.3. The average seems to about 4lb, tho it was better in the winter when they have put a bit of weight on, were mostly 4.8 to 5.8 then. This season had 10 fish 2 decent, a 5.14 and 8.4. It really is a case of having to catch the smaller ones and hoping for the odd better fish! BMAC do seem to have the best water at the moment tho, i think some of the lower stretches have less numbers of bigger fish, certainly a report of 6 or 7 big barbel spawning on the Northwich stretch was floating about at a match last week.

Posts: 45 Jul 14 09 9:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	fished from 7 til 9.30 tonight,dropped into 3 swims on bay malton water at cotton farm,couple of knocks in first swim but nothing else.had a 2lb chub from next swim and in the last swim had a really nice chub of just over 4lb,a few fish seemed to be rolling over the feed before i caught the bigger chub,not been on the dane for 12 months so it was nice to catch on my return,the barbel will have to wait for another day. both fish fell to hair rigged bacon flavour spam.

Posts: 11 Jul 14 09 11:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi fellas, i joined this site last year, put a few reports on so i intend to do the same this year. So far I have fished the Dane about 8 or 9 times (I am a Bay Malton member), I tend to fish the Cotton Farm stretch, but just recently I am edging towards Manor Farm. Fish totals so far: 11 barbel. 9 chub. No other species. I have had a couple of decent sessions, and a few not so good. My best catch came on Monday evening. I caught 3 barbel and 2 chub. Biggest barbel being 5lb 10oz, with the chub pushing 3lb 8oz (approx). The river was running through perfectly, colour and a bit of pace. My best barbel from last season was 6lb 2oz, I have come close so far to beating my PB with 5lb 14oz fish. I am craving to beat that PB, would love to catch a big barbel from the Dane - when I say big, I mean over 7lb ... Those of you who know the Bay Malton stretches, any ideas on the best pegs to land a biggun? Please PM me if you are willing to share any info. Posts: 1296 Jul 16 09 7:11 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	hi jim.the peg under the motorway is a half decent one.i have had barbel to near 9lb from that one.you have to forget the blanks though.if you plumb it you will find the dip although the river does alter and you have to be aware of this.i have not wet a line so far but did have a look the other day and saw one of my pegs altered to what i know of it.makes it very interesting. regards albert

Upstream of the bridge a very very large tree has rotted through and fallen into the river!! It covers an area of about 20m2 and is from bank to bank! Anyone got any theories as to how this might affect the fishing? In terms of fish spooking and moving away from certain areas when the tree fell in? Or if it will affect their movement up and down the river? Does it need removing by the club responsible i.e. Middlewich? Plus if there was no one around when the tree fell did it actually make a sound?

Paul i would guess the fish may have been spooked initially but with the passage of time they will probably find it a great area to hang around by, especially if it gives cover/catches natural foods from the river etc - have you tried fishing close to it yet? Some of the guys may have different views but i am not sure it will block the whole of the river to prevent fish passing up or downstream - as we know when we hook the fish - they can get in and out of tree roots etc without any problem - i wouldn't ask for it to be removed unless there was a specific problem. How far upstream was it - did you get peg number? i walked around past 40 and didn't see it last week.

Fisherman of the Dane, take your rod to the river it looks perfect for the barbel. I cannot go today - wedding anniversary. In June we were all begging for some rain and now that we got it... Hope it settles soon and we can get back out on the banks...
