Hi all.
Re the earlier message, I did manage to get a Tench of 4. 8oz from the Deen city stretch back in August, I think, on a cocktail of bread and worm. I was aiming for the un-catchable Koi and his mate. When I hooked the tench, they followed him for about 2 minutes really closely maintaining my thought that I'd hooked the Koi, then they went down river and left him. He wasn't he most attractive of Tench, looked like he'd swan into a wall, but definately the biggest river Tench I've landed. My favourite barb stretch is still well below par, so I'm abstaining from wetting my line for a while. I have my PB of 11.8 from it this year and that magical one hour trip when I got 5 barbs in 5 casts beteween 4.2 and 8.8, so at least I can sleep happy this year. Hope you all have a fantastic christmas and a great new fishing year. Best wishes. Nigel, |

Hi Andy,
Not been much lately; species hunt stands at 12 to me and 15 to a certain Mr Dedman... Would you believe I intentionally fished for eels a few times after dark and couldn't get one on worm or squid

Had fun with the Wandle Trust clear up on Sunday - if anyone is after eels they should keep an eye out for motorcyle swims -the ones heaved out were home to a
number of 'Anguillas in the Mist'.
Walking to work takes me past the pool at the junction of Byegrove road and Wandle Bank - looks like an opportunity next week, if I can sort out the kit. I last went down this stretch with Bob James in summer 2005 and saw barbel, but only landed chub... In an echo of Theo's post - Merry Christmas to all Wandle-ers! |

Jason, great to see you at the cleanup - it was a good 'un. Hope you do manage to get out on the Byegrove Road pool - which is locally known as Birdsh*t Corner
