The zoom is equivalent to 28-504mm with a Leica lens and I really don't think I need more than that! Not sure how far they can push megazoom in these cameras. The image stabilization at 28X zoom, handheld, had better be pretty amazing. I would like to live in Manchester, England. The transition between Manchester and death would be unnoticeable. - Mark Twain

The Nikon D40 has a standard 18-55mm lens and at 18mm, you could just about say it qualified. English as tuppence, changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, hermit-crab, tight-fist, eremite, feudal still, reactionary Rawlinson End.

Pete. In my 35mm slr days. 50mm was the norm.anything over was zoom. And anything under was indeed Wide angle.28 mm is wide angle in my mind,and i paid a fair bit in the old days for a seperate Tamron 28 mm. wide angle lens for my Contax I think its amazing that one lens can give you 28mm then zoom 18x Howard. Ps Simone Darling. Mulled over your advice,but have since found that apart from olympus making bits for the Lumix lens mechanism,Sony also are making parts for Canon,Olympus, Panasonic ect.So in these digital days,seems no manufacturer makes a complete camera anymore

Posts: 1694 (24/08/08 11:04) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Pete, think Panasonic quote 35mm equivalant so 28mm is 28mm as in 35mm, Nikon slr camera lenses are quoted true DX focal length hence 18mm is approx 28mm so the same as the Panasonic at its wide end simple! Got the D300 meself with the 16-85 DX lense very nice to have 24mm to play with

Bearing in mind my wifes nikon at so called 24mm only gets in the fireplace and a bit of the walls,and my contax 35mm slr gets just the fireplace,im very pleased to get half of the outside walls in. Use number 2 to absolutely rule out any kind of manual or shutter release shake. The Intelligent Auto setting with "Face Recognition Technology" makes taking day-to-day pictures a total breeze. Had my FZ18 for nearly a year and still not fully to grips with all the features yet. I would like to live in Manchester, England.
