In an effort to pin my line to the deck ive been using a back lead of one sort or another. Fine in swims that are close in and i can lower or swing my rig out and have some sort of control over how it enters the water. But when its time to fish further out , even the far bank, this is when my problems occur , If i use a fixed backlead the rig flies through the air sometimes with a "bolas" effect , if i use a flying back lead its not good either . Rather than landing with a feathered "plop" its more like chucking in a half house brick which im sure isnt helping me in the pursuit of my quarry. So the question is , is there a technique or some advice you can offer or as im begining to think that the positives of using one at distance is outweighed by the negatives and i should scrap the back lead idea when fishing at distance .
Cheers Paul
