Fished 7.15 - 14.45 at MF. River low and clear. CF was quite busy. Most folk had a few chub. Finished up with 3 - two at 4 Ib. Had 30 - 40 fish swimming
around me, moving up and downsteam in the shallows. Afternoon was hot and sunny - too hot, too sunny - river too low.

Totally agree with you Chev to sunny & hot. Did here of an 8lb + fish coming out of CF though. I myself opted for the very long walk to MF and one Chub for
all my hard work. 31/2lber. Good luck to all this year.

blanked yesterday afternoon, went back later in the evening and had a nice one (relative to the river)
very enjoyable indeed

If the weather stays like this I'm seriously thinking of float fishing/stret pegging but as it rained for half a day yesterday maybe I won't need to.
I was disappointed to see a more mature angling with one of those big blue keep nets in mid Manor - whilst BM (like Lymm) have a number of suitable rules for the Dane - seems this is not one of them? |

Had a Barbel just shy of 8lb from the lower river yesterday (fished through the rain). Returned again this morning but surprisingly the level has only risen by
several inches, with no real colour.

No mate, just a quick weigh and return. Only tend to photo doubles (which I've not yet had from the Dane).

8lb 2oz is my biggest from the Dane. IMHO any fish over 7lb is a good fish for the Dane. I know guys who've had doubles, but they are few and far between.

I went on wednesday afternoon. I opted for the long walk down to Manor only to find someone in a swim I had earmarked in the winter as a decent summer swim. I
fished the next swim down on the stick and must have had 30 or so fish sadly only 2 of them needed the landing net the rest where chublets roach, gudgeon and
the dreaded minnows. I lost one rod bender probably a chub around 2 pound but that was it. I switched swims in early evening and went on the tip for the barbel
and didn't get a touch in 3 hours. The river looked really good compared to this time last year, much more plant life and for once even though it had
rained through most of tues/wednesday the level was ok if anything needing a few more inches on it. The localised rain had darkened the colour which didn't
help but like I say generally in much better nick than after last years monsoon.

Below Middlewich (Congleton really is the upper limit for course fishing). Generally speaking:
Congleton - Holmes Chappel (Upper river) - Chub/Grayling city. Holmes Chappel - Middlewich/Croxton (Middle river) - Barbel alley Middlewich to Northwich (Lower river) - Less prolific than the other 2. |

Managed a couple of un expected hours yesterday afternoon. I decided to walk CHF and have a look at one or 2 possible swims. I was amazed to find the deep pool
(just after the 2nd stile) had now gone and become a pool then a large sand/gravel bank followed by the main river still fishable when the river is in flood.
Being the first weekend of the season 2 of the swims I fancied where occupied so I walked back downstream and fished the cattle drink which had been full of
cows on the way up but thankfully they had their fill and moved off to graze. I waded and trotted the stick down to the overhanging willow. i had a chub over
the pound in the first ten minutes then managed another 3 pounder. The water was surprisingly low and very clear given the amount of rain we had on saturday
evening. After a biteless hour I moved down to CF and walked down towards MF and tried a swim just before the stile but the wind was blowing so hard upstream
that it was holding the line back making it impossible. There was now an lot of debris coming down in the form of branches and leaves so I sacked it at 5.30
and headed back up the m6 for my sunday roast.
