The above sounds a bit like some who interact on this thread , or perhaps more like the Ousemeisters who get together once or twice a year to pretend to fish , tell tall tales ,gossip ,

and get excessively drunk .However when I'm on the bank 90% of the time I am in a clique of one presumably sharing information with my self . Head honcho , now I like the sound of that , it has a certain gravitas , I could be in charge of myself , that would make a change

Believe me there is an Ouse clique but those involved very rarely post on this board thank god. They just lurk about, that's why I rarely post what is I actually catch.

Come to ths fish in and get to know a few people Jon.

Spiros you read too much into my post, it was a ref to your
opening post, but it was meant tongue in cheek.

I have no problem with any of my fellow anglers on the Yorkshire
Rivers, as long as they behave responsibly on the bank, whether
they are 'Cliques' 'Ousemeisters' 'Lurkers' or whatever.

Taking part in a fish in doesn't really apeal to me to be honest, but
undoubtably I will cross a few of your paths over the season, will be
spending more time on the Ouse and Nidd hopefully.

Another season approaches on the mighty mother Ouse. I'm not sure how much I'll be fishing her this season but as I only live 5 minutes away the short session usually proves irresistible!

Let's hope the opening day is not quite such a washout as last year, eh?

Tight lines everyone - see you at the 3rd Annual Ousemeisters' Barbel Challenge - Sunday September 7th, 2008, Cherryfields, Newton-on-Ouse. I'll post more details nearer the time.

I experienced the same intimidating feeling when I started on the Ouse last season and I debuted the very area you mention! However, it worked out fine after an initial blank or two. The words of advice and encouragement both on this forum and on the bank were of great value! Stick with it and you'll not regret it. She's a fine river and blanks are never really that bad given the locations you get to spend a few hours at.

Good luck and tight lines to fellow Ouse anglers.(would have said Ousemeisters ...but did not want to start the clique issue up again)
Look forward to meeting old and new friends again.
Some lessons learned from last year.
Dont leave your rod unattended.or bait runner off.(what was the name of that Guy??)
Beware of 'catfish'(Rumor ??)
remember where the bushes are so when we get 14ft in the river on the 16th you will not loose all your new seasons leads.
don't fish in the Park after dark...its haunted.
And the electric fence is switched on!!
Tommies can be exchange for cash during fishins.........
and hopefully we can all keep this thread in a open informative friendly dialog that is some times missing elsewhere.(more crack than clique)

Is it true that you and Robin are planning a creche for the ever increasing offspring( good wishes to you both)
I can ask if the Newton tower can be fitted with a big lock and install a ball pool so the the kids can be locked up whist you fish.
Perhaps thats why Robin has joined sheephills, they can play with the lambs!!!

Just read your article on ouse barbelling Mike. An excellent read. I recommend it to those who may not have read it. I was on the edge of my seat as you were fighting those barbel .You have put me onto experimenting with glugs this year.
