"ADHESIVE" |
Lead | |
|
Evening to all, just wondered if any of you guys/gals could help with the best adhesives to use when coating leads with sand/silt and the like,i use various powder coat combinations but feel that for theese low clear river conditions nothing can come close to imitate the river bed than actual river bed
ps,ive tried araldite which wasnt too bad just wondered of a better alternative. thankyou......Jay |

Hi Jay, do you think the fish can smell adhesives of all kinds and wont it put them off ? or does it wear off after a while.

alright ian,as said beforemainly use powder coat but on the ocation that i have used adhesive to coat leads i have usually stood them in a bucket of rain water for a week or so just to try and dilute the smell a little, wether it works with regard to the fish being able to detect it or not im not sure but it makes me feel a little more confident

i've used carpet spray glue then dip the ledger in sand then sprayed again to seal & have araldited gravell etc on as well.
if you do this before a fishing trip (on a pre-trip visit) you can leave outside to weather in nicley which brings me to another way of coating leads .smear them with a thin coating of yogart and leave outdoors hanging someware to go off ot hopefully get covered with nice organic material or moss. steve
I try to be funny... but sometimes I merely look it http://www.angelfire.com/sd2/chavender/ ![]() |

hi all, nothing wrong with coating leads to look like the riverbead,as t.m said its the combination of all the little things we do to our tackle that can make the difference on the day.
as for glueing gravel to lead weights, its a messy job and tedious, but worth the effort, and i know i have done what i can, to disguise nearly all my tackle trying to catch a wild animal. i use the same glue as you jay, araldite, here is a little clue when doing it,just do one side of the lead at a time, else the tiny gravel will fall off. as for barbel sniffing glue |

Impact Adhesive (Evostick)
You can either role the leads in it and then dip them in the silt, or mix the silt with the adhesive and then dip the leads in it. It sets like a nice rubber coating, but you can get a bit high while doing it Steve |
