Lots of people like them, they appear to be quite good and maybe made for Fox by Penn in North America. If so thta makes them a fairly good choice at the price.
As for me I have a rational abhorrence of Fox gear other than their Trilobe (Lifter) leads - which though designed for Carp fishing are reasonably amazing flood water leads - a 6oz lead that lies flat and budges not in the flow yet rise rapidly to the surface of a flooded North of Nottingham water on retrieve is a good thing. Even at a squid a throw. |

I made my mind up on Fox Stratos reels after my first session using one. But then i thought, lets not be hasty. So i gave it a few months.
Now i have 4. Guess that says it all. Michael. |

I have a Stratos FS 7000. The only problem I have found is with the spool. When you fit the spool on it seems to click in to place. However, when pulled with force it comes off. There seems to be a specific way in which it fits on to the reel spindle and locks. I found out the hard way with a 10lb 6oz barbel which managed to pull the spool off whilst I was playing it, which of course fell in to the river!! A certain amount of chaos ensued with a barage of expletives escaping my mouth. Eventually I landed the fish, but it did cost me an entire spool of Fox Illusion. I managed to retrieve the spool from the river, after landing the fish, by winding line around my hand until the spool emerged from the water.

Darryl, i think we have similar opinion about fox stuff mate,
it certainly aint the same as it used to be, likewise nash too and several more, profits probably seem more important these days than what us guys look for, most of my old carp equipment is around 20-30 years old and still good, thats chair, bedchair, rucksack, rodbag ect ect, thats what built their reputations and at time was well justified....j.w |

Allan,
There are two styles of the 7000 and also the 10 000. The FS 7000, that has front drag, but also has a single push button release for the spool. (In this case, if the spool has not been seated properly, it could come off under pressure) And the cheaper FS 7000E, that has the 'usual' unscrew the front clutch to release the spool. Hope that clears it up, just a case of not clarifying the model I think? I have three of the FS 10 000 for pig fishing. Had them about 6 month, like them so far, but jury still out! Dazza. |

Fox tend to field test their gear on their customers hence why so much of their stuff is a MK II or III.
Why buy a Fox over a Shimano? I dont see the reason personally. |
