I bought some lamprey "sausage" sticks from Teme Severn. Had bream on them, (well what can't you catch bream on?). Not given them a really good go through lack of confidence in them, but will try harder.

I had the boiles last year as a trial, not even packaged properley.
Just wish i had taken more with me on Sunday, I only had enough to make 3 small pva bags up and about 6 for the hook. TOTALY SOLD on them, might try once more before buying more tho |

Must get some, seem to be doing well, as for Mainline pulse, tried it last season, didn,t do me any favours, not in the same league as some of their other baits.

the lamprey hype has spread far and wide. yet to try them myself but fail to imagine they're any better than hinders elipse halibut pellets. bet the liquid flavouring's effective on meat though.

Re Mainline Pulse, it smells like cranberry to me, and personally I've never done much on fruit flavoured boillies where Barbel are concerned. As alluded to above some of the other mainline range make for good barbel baits.

Hi men ,
Me and Sue have had a go with them . Caught carp and barbel on them , and as a shelf life bait they are just the right hardness. Mate borrowed some on a trip to a carp lake , and his 8 year old son had a load of tench to 6lb+. Been useing pellets doctored with the lamprey bait liquid , and dunking the pva bags in it , that picked up fish . Distingtive smell , that wont catch you less fish Hatter |

yer i dnt think i will try the pulse, jus wondering as have a bag in the freezer as well as the active 8 and fusion flavours.
i found that shelf life baits arent as good as the frozen counterparts, as they all have preservatives in them, which must affect them as i have never caught as many fish off shelf life bait. do barbel actually take small live lamprey then? Dave |

Hi men ,
When I was carping i used to be fanatical about my baits being fresh , and the right hardness / texture .I was lucky , and got onto mainline grange before release , best bait i ever used. Always used frozen baits , but the shelflife lampreys are a diffrent class to many other bagged baits in the shops , which i find to hard .Showed them to a carpfishing mate , and he asked me how long they had been out the freezer!!!. Worth carrying a bag in the ruchsack if nothing else . Hatter |

Re: Re:shelf live | ||

Hi men ,
The shelf life have the concistancey of a normal frozen bait . I find many of the normal shelf life baits out there are to hard , perhaps aiming at carp anglers who like them like that , but I think that barbel might not !!!. I fished a carp lake last month , and two of caught , both on the lamprey. they are a nice clour as well , not to in your face . They do them in frozen , but for conveniance I am carrying packs of 12mm Hatter |

i think fish in genaral prefer soft baits to hard ones.
but they don't mind rock hard pellets. dave.

Has anyone here actually tasted lamprey?...
I am intrigued,..... Are these Lampreys farmed?... Or is it, as with Hedgehog flavoured crisps,..just advertising hype? |
