I was talking to my local tackle shop owner today and he pointed out that it would be better to have the breaking strain the other way round. As in, 12lb line with a 10lb or 8lb coated braid hooklength. Because if you are going to break your line, it would be better to have the weaker line closer to the hook. For example, if you cast out 10 metres and your line snaps then the fish will drag a possible 10 metres of line around. But if you have a weaker hooklength then the chances are the break will be by the hook.
What do other people do? Am i pointing out the obvious?
It would be good to find out everyone elses opinion.
Michael.
