I've started my customary closed season review of my tackle bag, which traditionally leads me to conclude that 75% of the contents are utterly
unnecessary and vow to be more mobile every year.
I'm curious to hear any recommendations for essential pieces of kit that you consider absolutely indispensible, particularly those small items that
aren't sold/branded as fishing related.
To start the ball rolling.....
1) I'm delighted to have joined the ranks of the plasticine/modelling clay fraternity this year. I no longer lug around several pounds of lead, just a
handful which I can supplement with clay when more weight is required.
2) I love the velcro adjustable ties to use as rod bands, http://www.mpdhookandloop.com/shop/Catalogue.asp?func=viewsub&id=246
available from most DIY stores. Much cheaper than 'proper' rod bands, and more robust than the humble elastic band.
Interested to hear any other suggestions.

For the summer........my Poncho.

1:Rod Quiver with 1 or 2 rods 4 bank sticks landing net handle unhooking mat.
2:10ltr bucket with scales camera licences small tackle box bait ect ect ect 3:Landing net head Thats all I take slimmed down my kit so I can cover more distance ... Now all I gotta do is slim down myself...lol

Hi men ,
Im with Steve on the ponchos , 3 years for me and Sue , like little bivvies  , and you
can tie pva bags up under them .
But from last season , gaiters , in the summer when its warm , and you get a soaking from the dew , it takes ages to dry out . Again light , removeable , and cheap. We even wore them in the winter , kept the waterproofs neat and tidy. Hatter |

Your Spreader Block.
Have 2 landing net handles one for roving and one went i just sitting it out. Have turn up 2 times this Season with No Spreader Block. 
Also your Camera Bank stick Adapter , Had a New PB this season and not a sole in sight.

A roll of duct tape!
I have used it as a bucket handle when mine snapped, to secure isotopes when I forgot the attachment, to halt a leaky umbrella, to fasten a wonky head in a bankstick, to mend the hole in the bottom of my holdall, to tape a swinger to a bankstick, and to mend a clumsily broken rod rest which I stood on 
It's a tape, a glue, and a string all in one

I totally agree with Cass, Duck Tape can save a day's fishing in so many ways, they even do a real tree hardwoods green camouflage version now, will be
investing in some of that for the new season......
