Normark Rods |
Lead | |
|
Just picked up a Normark 11.5' carp/barbel rod on Ebay for £37 plus postage. Does anyone have one of these, or has anyone used one? Just canvassing
opinion really. Think I got a bargain, but time will tell of course.

Hi Rich
I don't know about their carp/barbel rods, but i have a couple of their quivertip rods, and i must say they are fine rods indeed. I caught a 8lb barb on my light quiver using 5lb line the other week, with no problem whatsoever. Its strange they don't have a big name in the specimen rods field, as there float/feeder rods are some of the best out there, if not the best. I think u've had a good buy myself

Hi Millie,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I thought so too, and very pleased to read your endorsement. As further info, the rod has two tops (1.5lb/2lb test curves) so seems like it could be very versatile. Cheers, Rich |

Dave - yeah, I reckon so. Not sure if you've seen one of these rods (it arrived today and is a super slim blank but feels quite stiff)but, if you have,
any idea how to differentiate between the two tops? There are no markings and it seems to be a case of visually checking. The thing is, I'd need a
micrometer to definitively say one way or the other.

Easy........Hold 'em near the tip, the ligher t/c will droop more !
If it's genuine, then you have yourself a real bargain ! I'm sure my friends one of these has the t/c marked on each tip though !? Cheers Paul M.......... |

Thanks Paul M - looks genuine enough to me (must be pretty difficult to counterfeit a rod?) and the blank's very slim, the reel seat/eyes/whipping are all
very good quality.. I've scoured the tips from tip to toe and there's no sign of the tc.

Not worried, Dave. The rod came from a reputable tackle dealer, albeit on Ebay, with excellent feedback. I think a lot of people are unnecessarily suspicious
of Ebay - but not I. I've had loads of good stuff from it, as well as cars.
I agree that anything can be counterfeited - I wasn't born yesterday - but the economics demands that there be a market to make it worthwhile. Even the fake industry needs a market. And I wouldn't think the fishing rod market is a prime target - just an educated guess. Cheers, Rich |
