Crayfish... | ||
|
Just thought I'd whip these up at the request of a fellow Wensum'er. Not entirely sure what species of cray these are - natives or signals (though it
looks a bit "signally" - though it was a fair bit smaller and the claws were not as red as those that I have seen on other crays)? I found the beast
washed up on the bank possibly a day or two after the river had been over its banks.

The Bridge Pub at Lenwade section is available to all on a £5 day ticket, short 600 yd stretch holds some good double figure Barbel, Chub to over 6lbs plus the
odd good Roach to about the 2lb mark, plus fishing on adjacent lake for the odd Carp, Bream etc... Can get quite pressured at times, hardly prolific, but is
the best bet for Wensum Barbel on a day ticket. One or two free stretches( Drayton Green Lanes, Costessey Mill, Hellesdon Mill ) but Barbel are a bit thin on
the ground. Hope this helps.
Wensum..........lose some!

whats the deal with the NACA then? i've found there website but theres no info on how to join the costessey point project or how much its costs per season,
dont mind joining a club or syndicate as im fed up with day ticket stretches with low heads of barbel.

Hi Chris
I've sent you a message. Regards Mark |

If you join the NACA you can probably get to fish on a guest ticket but the waiting lists for their syndicates are quite long so I believe, but I stand to be
corrected on that point if is unfair. The Lenwade stretch has quite a few Barbel but they see quite a few baits too!

At Sayer's the waiting list is shall we say overflowing and has been so for ages. NACA are still far from getting the head of barbel up to good numbers at
Costessey Point, but the waiting list still has a good turnover rate. Of possible interest to some, we are hoping that this winter the EA will infill the
stupid boat channels they forced us to incorporate into the riffles that we installed a few years ago. This could still be scuppered by failing to gain Flood
Defence Consent, but I think this is unlikely.

Forget the 19s many more worthwhile fish to catch first.

So Ginger, out of interest are you saying that there are other worthwhile fish to catch or that there are more worthwhile fish to catch?

I thought there was only two barbel in the Wensum, and didn't one of those grow legs, so I heard.....allegedly
I'll get me coat.
"A mound of earth on Walton Breck Road was created for the growing numbers of fans to watch the team. It was called the 'Spion Kop' after a
battle in the Boer War six years earlier. It was not the only Kop - low hill in Afrikaans - nor the first. But it would become the greatest......."

otters again | ||

Another Wensum biggie has fallen to the otters.
Got the phone call from a friend, he found the dead fish estimated at 15lb+. Good job the mild spell at the moment hopefully the fish will be moving about and avoiding them. |
