My Way | ||
|
Just been down me record collection and found this song by frank barbus sinatra
Here goes: And now the time is near to venture forth and catch a barbel. Regrets i've had a few to that i'm certain. I fished on waters which didn't contain any barbel. But now my aim is clear i've seen some barbel. But what is a man, what has he got, a bag of bait and a fishing rod. To cast his line out in the stream, and wait for that bite oh what a dream. But now one thing is for sure. I'LL DO IT MY WAY i CAN'T WAIT, GOOD LUCK BOYS |

Dodge - No worries man
Millie - nice one youre sposed to put the hemp in the river not smoke it Dont sing that song on the bank i can see it now all sorts of wildlife, birds bees and fishys running for cover. had another walk along the river today my missus thinks i'm mad Take a look in the pool and what do you see In the dark depths there faces beckoning me Can't you see them it's plain for all to see They were there oh I know you don't believe me. I've no doubt that you think I'm off my head You don't say but it's in your eyes instead Hours I spend out just gazing into that pool Something draws me there I don't know what to do. lyrics courtesy of a very fine maiden bet they wont be there start of the season they always seem to know. |

Boris,
I am a little puzzled as to why you should want to join a club.Only last week you were telling us all that Brockham is free fishing, has lots of free parking and is alive with big barbel ,so why pay. My three sons and I were out on the river on opening night and the fish werent feeding ,but we were rather hoping to catch a big borris wading along the garden as he had promised to do. Oh well another night perhaps. For your information boris, I spoke to Nick Faulkes of the EA and he assures me that they have not electro fished at Brockham for over five years.But I am trying to get them to do so. Can we please have no reference to mothers this season as I happen to know mine. Do enjoy the new season on our little stream borris, as it may give some big surprises. sowerbutt,maker of the finest london roach poles. |

IN GREAT NICK | ||
|
Hi Jon
The river is in great nick, got plenty of water in it, and looks as good as i've seen her in the couple of seasons i've been fishing her. Was out on saturday from 4am - 9pm. Caught a eel which was between 3lb-4lb, just cut the line and let it go! Fell asleep in the afternoon, to be rudely disturbed by the pin screaming off, missed it as u can guess But sucess last night on a near by river Roger |

Why did you cut the line and let it go? paul4 edited for spelling |

Re: In great nick | ||

Paul4,
Pure and simple, Millie is a wuss. Any decent angler would have stripped off their shirt, dived in and wrestled the wild beastie onto the unhooking mat, pinning it firmly but gently in place, whilst deftley removing said hook from 2 feet down its throat with the extra long reach forceps usually clipped to his chest hair expressly for this purpose. Only then would he hold it aloft in a homage to the Gods, kiss it firmly on the mouth (Rex stylee) and slip it back calmly into the water to continue on its way to the Sargasso. And while he was still in a fighting mood, he would have driven home and ravished the spouse, just to show what a man he really was. Dodge |
