Are the pegs downstream any good for Barbel, personally I don't know where to fish if I can't get near the weir, anyone know of any good pegs downstream or care to share between(pegs) numbers I should try, thank you for any help received.

The Trent Meadows stretch is fairly reliable, but absolutely anywhere down to the end of Collingham waters will produce. I once had a run of carp opposite the old wharf at the end of Collingham Lane, but the current is really fierce and you will lose loads of tackle casting close to the far bank.

Current Conditions. | ||

Thanks for the info. It seems the weather will pick up a bit this weekend and Riverline this morning gave an average level along the trent at 1.5 - 2m,and falling in places.I suppose the tide needs to be taken into consideration on Collingham.Anyway we will give it a go. Regards Col.

Re: Current Conditions. | ||

Be very wary of the tide if you are fishing all night. If you doze off, you can easily find that you are unable to get to your rods to move them higher up the bank. I have never actually had to make an emergency move in the early hours, but I have come within inches of it - not much fun when you have taken a bit of extra gear with you. I have seen someone sit out the whole night under a cape in the rain, but that's not my idea of enjoyment.

Hi all
Hi all i put this on the wrong trent thread didn't no it was tidal. Coming down from the north to fish the trent in a few weeks,one river always wanted to fish since i was a kid,mates uncle lives down that way,lives near retford he taking me and a mate on some club water during the day,but cant night fish.So was thinking of doing Collingham on the night and next day then travelling back.I can print off route planner how to get to Collingham,so if anybody can email or pm me details of the place would be great,how to get to the river from Collingham,can you park car near where you fish,is it safe as will be by myself when go there,where you get day tickets from etc.Problems with the tide now aswell,not done a all nighter,usually just a couple of hours after dark,do i need to by a bivvi,or can you put a tent up so any help would be great. thanks phil |

Re: collingham | ||

I used to fish the tidal 10-15 years ago on hemp and caster and then just stopped when I went to uni and have never really been back since. I know things have changed a lot since then with both the way to fish and the tackle but I'll be giving this Saturday a good go for Barbel and I'm really undecided as to where to try. Above the weir Holme, Winthorpe or below........
Any help/advice at all out there much appreciated. Will I struggle to get past circus tents?? I'm waiting for my worksop book to come through so will have that for the weekend but I understand there are a few good DT stretches also?? Cheers in advance |

Re: Level @ Collingham | ||

Fished yesterday at Collingham, had the place to myself for most of the day. The water level is very comfortable, just above summer level and the colour has come out of the river. I only went for a look on the off chance that it wasn't too busy. Had a nice afternoon sunbathing on the beach and caught a fish or two.
