It had something to do with the material that I was accumulating on my line. I have noticed that the Goyt is cleaner, but will continue to use mono for the time being. Will be changing to 12lb + 11lb hook link tonight. I will have to purchase a stronger rod as there was no give left in the blank when the fish took off. Dave

On another note went friday evening river pulling through and rising there was plenty of cr--p coming down got hook stuck in finger that did not go down well did not fish into night because of all the flotsam coming down. did not get a rattle. Nice to see you had a bash on the dane cotton farm me and my farther used to fish there 35 years ago at that time you then paid at the farm and walked down to the river no barbel in then but happy days all the same i now fish manar farm PAAS waterdown stream of cotton farm had barbel up to 9 poundfrom there Back to the goyt we should be seing the first salman and sea trout coming up soon tight lines oilman

Its not visible on individual river reports pages. As for the Dane I learnt to river fish there 35 years ago on the old Greenhall Whitley Sproston Green stretch - it was all chub amongst the willows in those days. Turned out to be the opposite bank to PAAS Manor Farm when I joined PA. Had my first Dane barbel from there about 1984. Also fought a monster for 20 minutes in 1985 - convinced it was a huge barbel, only to land a double figure mirror carp - beautiful but a bit disappointing on one level! See you on the Goyt Kev

Fished the Goyt on Saturday night until about 2am Had 4 takes on 18mm boilies, missed them all. Possibly chub ? i'll never know! Finally had an unmissable take at 1am, after 4 fishless hours. At least it stayed dry ! The fish was 8lb+ taken on a boilie over a bed of pellets and mini boilies. There was a couple of foot on the river but it was running off steadily. I usually check the river levels at the head of the Mersey ,behind sainsburuy's in the town centre. I saw some footprints under the motorway bridge on the Tame yesterday (tricky wade that , i've done it but only during low water) Had some small barbel to a 1lb , from the Tame a couple of seasons back. Has anybody had a proper crack at it ? So much potential for barbel locally when you throw the Mersey into the equation. Hope you all stay in touch your goals. Happy Hunting . Posts: 1299 (15/07/07 23:18) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi All Fished the goyt today- sunday, river was high, running like a train and going by the rain this afternoon and possibly tonight we're looking at quite a swolen river had trouble holding bottom at first so we put the gear away and went for a nosey where i bumped into cstott888 and another lad. Saw 2 baby foxes about 2-3 months old i think playing on the far bank, anyway got back to the fishing and had a few bites, lost a chub and a grayling and my brother had a couple of grayling, all in all a good day, just glad to be on the river really, am looking forward to a drop in the level soon hopefully im having one problem though, the past couple of sessions have produced bites through to early afternoon, about 1-2 ish today the weather changed, dont know if that was contributory or not but when it happened a few weeks back i couldnt offer that excuse, using a maggot feeder, dont know whether im overfeeding if i through about 6 feeder fulls in per hourish? tight lines dan

Posts: 25 (16/07/07 00:45) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi Simon at least you had a fish sat evening I did same and also had four good takes they were really on the feed but un fortunately through my incompetence didn't land a single one. one i struck and no one home. lost two in snags then lost a huge one reckon it would have been a double 3 feet from bank ( had the drag just a bit to tight and hooklength broke) felt like throwing all my gear in river and giving up oh well had some good fish on my week off back to work tommorrow. see ya all on the bank soon Paul
