hope to see you down there,first season after barbel on this river only 10 minutes from home but i think this rain might change my plans,all the best.

the derne at the side of the asda is flowing like mad i was oping to fish the trent this weekend i hope thats in a better state best get my flood rods out good luck everyone

I have just cancelled a camping trip to Cambridgeshire this weekend because of the forecast. Was intending fishing at Houghton Mill on the Gt. Ouse system on Saturday. Looks like we'll all be washed out. The Dearne is going like a gravy train at present

well according to flood watch, most of the middle to lower river is in the fields, so looks like it be well into next week before its fishable.

Looks like I want be there tomorrow then!
Might have a ride out anyway I've witnessed the Dearne rise and fall very quickly, so you never know!

Went from Athersley to Town this aft....via Durkar  , only way to avoid going over the Dearne as the roads were closed at Haigh, Lower Barugh, Smithies and Hoyle Mill evidently also at 3pm the Dearne was over the road at Asda Bnud......would change your plans mate, latest from my mate is that his house is totally flooded and he lives 100yds from it Best Regards Dave |

apparently according to sources its down to about 5 foot now so easily fishable

Hello All, fished the River Dearne last night just before the thunderstorm, the river was about 2 feet up above normal summer level, plenty of chub bites but nothing else.

Hi Chaps,
Once again the river is flowing over the roads in the Barnsley area!!!! I have a week off next week and if the level is back down I will be having a couple of trips down to the Bolton area and possibly a touch further up. If any of you are out there next week let me know and I will track you down for a natter and hopefully put faces to names. I have fished it through the winter on a couple of occasions with mixed fortunes for the chub but no barbs as yet, still persuing my first Dearne Barb. Lets hope the weather picks up. Tom |

The River Dearne is now in excellent shape and the river is about 18" up and dropping, the colour is fining out as well.
I fished the middle stretches for about an hour on sunday and winkled out a nice chub. andy |

Fished the Dearne yesterday evening and again this morning. Last night it was a touch coloured and at normal level. This morning it had colored up a lot.
Got an unexpected carp at 7-13 and a barbel of 4-08 last night. Today, only one bite - a stonking 10-03 barbel! Photos in Gallery. |

A 10 03 from the Dearne thats some fish was that lower middle reaches? Well done impressive will have to pop into my parents for a weekend now lol Brian The years teach much which the days never knew

Walked the river today and it looks really good. Wish I' d taken a fly rod rod as there were plenty of fish showing. Even spotted a couple of trout, and a monster chub who's whereabouts has been meticulously logged.
The present Mrs. Nicepix is joining me on an evening session tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have something to report other than earache
