Hi guys,
I have just recently moved to Bournemouth and now live about 2 miles from Throop. Do I need to join a club to fish the stour here? Or can I buy day tickets from somewhere? On the bank or in a shop? Also, how much would a day ticket cost? Thanks for any help! |

Hi Bournemouth angler
Day tickets for Throop are available from all the local shops, not sure on the price but in the region of £10. If you are thinking of fishing the water regularly it would be wise to joing Ringwood angling (follow link in Darren's mail). This would give you access to Throop and other stretches of the Stour and Avon. Regards Phil |

Fished a few hours today for 5 chub to 5-4 but still no barbel. I did however have a carp follow a dropper of pellets to the bottom of the riverbed where upon emptying its load the carp mopped everything up and then vanished before I could even get a rod baited up!
Never seen anything like it! |

Fished Beat 2 Throop this afternoon/eve...
Got totally soaked..... But it was worth it...River was in fine fettle...rising and colouring up after all the rain. Found some fish and finished with a 1.5lb roach, 4 chub to 4-5lb and 4 barbs...biggest going 10-1... Well pleased! Was well strange seeing them barbel in daylight! Huw |

The Hampshire Avon, Dear Boy...THE Hampshire Avon...
Thanks Darren.....Well strange seeing them in daylight....thought there was something wrong with my camera as the flash didnt go off....didnt realise you dont need no flash in the day... Must remember to turn left onto the A31 in future ...not right. Great to see them in there.....Could do with a few channels being cut in that weed though...would "open" up a few more swims on certain parts...nothing drastic...a couple of channels would be good. Back to the Old Graceful Lady tonight... |

Re: Dorset Stour | ||

There have been plenty of barbs coming out since the season started. Last week has been a bit quite (well i haven't heard of much). But a couple of dubs came out on Sunday. Chub are also showing fairly well, i had them to 6lb 3oz this week.

I am sorry but this thread does not belong on page 2!!
tell us what you lot down there have been up to. I shall be fish spotting this coming week if i can escape from work without anybody noticing Although i am concentrating my angling on another Ringwood stretch at the moment it makes such a nice change to be fishing a stretch of river that isn't full of @#%$!!(what i mean is i have been fishing the Royalty of late)-there may be a few doubles coming out but believe me in my eyes that place is getting worse than ever,i actually had 2 anglers run past me with only their chairs in there hands to get to a couple of swims,and once the chairs were in place they did a vanishing act for about 30 mins Sorry to rant on i got carried away,(also probably on the wrong page)but if you would like to post any Royalty horror stories here lets have it. Oops BFW controversy later dudes (chilled out Pete) |

Re: Dorset Stour | ||

Hi Pete, yep this page doesn't belong on page 2, but no1 seems to be posting which is fair enough, personally i like to keep people informed who don't live close enough to get down to the stour to just have a look. It's looking very good at the moment, fish spotting is a lot easier now so you should be in for a few sights
