Re: Good luck | ||

Good evening peeps. Posted this last night but it got deleted for some reason. So here go's again. Woke up last Saturday and asked Missus S if she fancied a walk. Where to she says?
Worcester says I, we live in deepest darkest Warrington.I could tell she was not too keen, she likes walking down river banks less than sex these days!!!!!!!!!! So I wooeed her with the classic line, we could stay away for the night and I'll take you out for lunch and dinner tonight and you'l get a fab cooked breakfast tomorrow. As she go's into anapyhlactic shock at the thought of walking into the kitchen never mind cooking we found ourselves wandering down the Teme 3 hours later. The River was a picture, good summer level, Even managed to get some decent chub and a couple of barbel feeding on pellet in the shallows. No good with the rods 100 miles away!!!!!!! After about 20 mins of watching the fish feed Mrs S gets thirsty and wanders off to the car over the other side of the field for a bottle of Oasis. On shutting the car door every last fish scarpered sharpish and despite feeding for another 20 minutes not a one came back. The car was over 100 yards away, makes you think dunnit !!!!!!!! For those enquiring about accomodation we stayed at Pitlands Farm, see details on the net. They sell BAA day tickets for a fiver a shot and if after fishing you decide that you want to join you can send off to BAA with your ticket and they'll knock you a fiver off the price of their book. Sounds like a good deal for those wihing to fish the Teme for the first time. |

Hi Mel,
nice to see you posting. Must admit, I was looking forward to a bit of "visual" fishing, but hey, I'll take a big summer flood any-day. Lucky I noted a couple of likely spots for such an occasion Steve |

Just walked down to powick bridge (god I love living in worcester!), couldnt tell how much it was up as I dont go down there often, but the colour was really red-brown and the flow was very healthy.

OK, OK, stop rubbing it in Darren
If the beach on the r/h bank and the island on the l/h bank were both still visible then it might not be too bad. Not sure what the weather's been like in Worcs and surrounds today, but in Brum it's been warm and dry. It's gone a bit darker again now, mind, so a further drop of rain might not be out of the question. I guess if it's been dry down towards the catchment area today then it should be OK for tomorrow?? That's probably put the kybosh on it then Cheers Scott |

Re: Teme conditions | ||

Thanks for the local info. Darren. Like Scott I'm sitting here in Brum where it looks like we're in for some heavy stuff again very shortly - black clouds and the breeze is up... Forecast suggests bad for this afternoon and evening but then OK overnight and for the morning. Fingers crossed!

Re: Water water everywhere

I THINK this is the right 'reports' board to post on now... (having just posted on the 'new new' version by accident)?
Wimped out yesterday as it rained all Friday night, so went through 'opening day ritual' (= early start and bacon & egg fry-up on the bank!) this morning insteadÂ… Arrived 4:30 (one of the upstream BAA stretches), no one else there. Chub first cast, then 5lb, 6lb, 8lb and 8 1/2lb barbel, then another chub, then another small barbel. Best "almost opening day" I can remember! Then it went quiet (perhaps because the sun was on the water). There was still nobody in the car park when I leftÂ… If you're undecided because of the conditions, don't be: It's still coming through at a pace, with big logs washing down the centre channel, but all my fish were within a rod's length of the bank. If you want to fish mid-stream you'll need plenty of lead, but the fish seem to be very happy feeding in the margins. Mel |

Re: Water water everywhere

I had a cracking day, tiring but cracking..
Ended up with 11 Barbel to 8.7. It was hard work, but well worth it. All the more pleasing because I dont really know that stretch of river too well. Steve |

Hey up fellow Temers. Thinking I might head up for late afternoon/evening today. Is it still looking like a melted mars bar or has it dropped a tad?
Bring it on!! |
