Brim | ||

Just two last year (one a coupla, the other c. binlid ten), both unhooked in the margins, off a barbless hook, never touched by me or by a net.
Choose your places well. |

Rising, nice colour, good temps...
|
Fished 4 hours today at a different club stretch. Nice colour to the river and in between the showers it was positively hot.
Managed 5 chub (to 5lb 5) and 1 barbel (around 6lb). |

Well... | ||
|
I crept out shortly after lunch (that's "dinner" to you proles) and had a waffer-thin 9-13. On ghastly bait, admittedly, not on flay, so the fish doesn't count for much. I must remember to pack one of my Sage XPs next time, altogether much more sporting (the resulting 30-minute fight with a five-pounder) and oh so elegant...

We've all done it, Dave.
Nice one! Good barbel from that free stretch. I'm thinking of going wednesday. What were the water levels like? Good flow? Nice colour? Take care mate. BD |

Re: colne | ||
|
flows are very good..pushing through in some swims,levels are high but not bad,dropping,colour is not brown but unable to see the bottom.
chest waders may be needed. i must say being in water with the barbs and resting it in the flow is great,kindda pulls closer to nature than landing one on the bank. dave.

the three that got away...
|
Had four fat chub to 5lb 6oz today.
But lost 3 barbel. Not happened before. Have lost the odd fish. But three in one session! I felt sick. Two of them were too good to forget about in a hurry. Not my day today, I guess. Chub were most welcome though. In great nick. And the river is too - looks perfect. |

RIVERS COLNE & COLNBROOK
|
David, sorry to hear that - sounds most unlucky. I managed to lose one through my own error, but connected in the end to a strong-fighting small one.
Thanks a million Dave H |

Re: bionic chub | ||

there's some lunker chub in the colne, Dave. Have been surprised at the size of them...
did you weigh it? |
|||
davhall |
Re: bionic chub | ||
|
nope,did not weigh it,but i would say about 4lb,i thought it was a barbel the way it went,must be all the o2 in the water,chalk and cheese from last year.

Any Colnesters doing any good?
Saw on the thread 'Thames Spillage' that some chemical foam got into a bit of the colne. Hope it hasn't affected anyone's fishing. Fish deaths a certainty it seems. Hope not on a large scale... |
