Read an article in the ST about the alternative MacNab...Mountain Goat, Rainbow and a pheasant.........
On the West Coast I think. In the area you are looking at it you could go for a barbel, lithuainian and a pole....... |

Incidently the river visibly rose last night as I watched it whilst sheltering from the deluge.

back earley today,fished midnight to about half 4,would of stayed longer but did not feel very well,but anyway,hrmmm,no barbes for me,chub,chub and errrr more chub,mad as hatters,had 5,one was about 5lb,so not all bad,i'm sure the river rose during the night,fish jumping all over the place,a rather nice ghost carp in my swim of about 15lb,no idea where that went.
long old season yet me thinks,i'm off to bed.. good luck with today. dave.

Re:bivvy boys | ||

thats why from next season i will be turning my attention on tench till september,by that time all the bivvy boy type would of gone...seems like the barbel scene has turned into what the carp scene was in the 80's,90,s when carp were the 'in fish'

Guys, good efforts. The Bivvy Boys are legal now let's hope, I would have fancied one for the downpour we just had.
Caught as much as I could bear of talksport's radio show. Started with a poem about the Lido, first couple of callers fishing the Colne and mention of an old tackle shop in S.Harrow. And a tip for Barbel under the A40. At least you wouldn't get wet |

Yeh Dave - I think it's the right board. Got a bit confusing of late hasn't it?
I won't be rolling up at the crack of dawn (got to drop the kids off at school first). Hope to see you down there though. I'll be the big feller with the ruckchair! Tight lines David |

Re: Colne | ||

Did ok today, went down with my brother who's a recent convert to barbel fishing. He had a nice fish of about 5lb within minutes of starting, so I was chuffed for him.
I then fell off a tree trunk landing headfirst into a huge pile of nettles, broke my favorite rod and gouged a chunk out of my hand. I began to get the feeling it wasn't going to be my day We moved on to another swim and after a wait of about 15 minutes I caught a great 9.7 lb fish followed by 2 smaller ones from a third swim later on. Amost worth the pain. P.S. HF, did I meet you today at the weir walking your dog? |
