Bucketed down here again today (Leicester) river was very high anyway and the rain was sweeping that way. Expect it to be brim full again at the weekend. I can see next weeks Tom Draper match at Shardlow being switched to the canal.

And it rained again this afternoon.
The BAA stretch is on the southern bank above the road bridge. It is very staight and relatively slow (under normal conditions). I have not fished it but understand that there are some barbs to be had. Does anyone know who controls the stretch immediately above this (either bank)? |

Re: Upper Trent | ||

Not Lea Hall they have the opposite bank to the BAA stretch and down stream from the bridge.
Above the BAA or Lea Hall section is the area I could be interested in. It may be Prince Albert on the Lea Hall side. As I crossed the river at Kings Bromley at lunch time it did not look as high as I had expected. The Dove started to drop late this afternoon but it is always well in advance of the Trent. Re: upper trent | ||

You could be right Jim but I still think that there is a section between BAA and the Power Station. I will try and check it out later today.
I see the crowds are still there on the Willows, can't get a space to park your car let alone fish and yet it still produces the big fish, but for how much longer? "I can't help it if I'm lucky" |

It felt very strange approaching the River Trent without a float rod. Apart from feeder fishing in the match days, it's the first time I've fished the Trent specifically for barbel. Dropped lucky with a pristine fish of 8 lb 10 oz that looked as if it had never seen a hook before. What a welcome.

hi people,
trent's fishing really well,only 1 blank in 8 visits,had my biggest to date last nite , 11-06, fin perfect,having to wait till sunset for any action,and normally it's 9 oclock onwards that the rod wrap's round,weed's a bit of a problem,but i can put up with that,while i'm catching, good average size of fish as well, regards jim |
