Maccaman,
Nice you beat me to it this season, I normally start this stretch of river, really got me sulking now Haven't ventured out yet but planning outings Tuesday and Wednesday, river permitting. Had a text from a mate on friday who said it was carring about 4 feet when he arrived but after 4 hours it had dropped a foot. Then it peed down again and started rising very quickly, went over Swarkestone bridge yesterday and it was bank high. With even more rain forecast it could put a dampener (pun not intended) on my proposed Tuesday stint. Flood or not though I am out somewhere may try the Dove. Paul |

River dropped about 2 feet on Saturday afternoon, managed to snaffle a couple on the good old elips.
Level should be back to normal on Saturday I will be trying one or two new areas. Paul |

Re: Upper Trent | ||

Back up to this years "normal" summer level, i.e. 2 foot up. I fished it for the first time this season last friday and it was approaching normal levels although still plenty of colour. Had 2 chub (one at 5lb - biggest I've had from that stretch) but no barbs.

Re: Upper Trent | ||

Gents,
Are there any day tickets stretches on the Trent neear to Armitage that are worth fishing? I'll be over that way in the middle of August and wanted to wet a line if there's an opportunity. Thanks in advance, Nick. PS. Just discovered the BAA have a stretch at Handsacre. Does anyone know that stretch? |

Re: Upper Trent | ||

Not fished at Handsacre but have fished in that area both upstream and down.
There are plenty of barbel around there so it is worth exploring. The river that far upstream is actually very small and overgrown with lots of streamer weed and whips. It is mostly fairly shallow and fast flowing with slower deeper areas. It is mostly gravel runs and pools so exploring is worthwhile. In normal conditions it can also be very clear and fish can be seen but that will depend on the rain The banks can be pretty overgrown on the upper river as it is mostly very lightly fished (don't know about the BAA stretches though). Travel fairly light and you should catch. Good luck Cahal |

Re: Upper Trent | ||

The weather will need to improve as it has been unfishable for almost all of this season so far. It was over the banks at Kings Bromley this weekend and although it started to drop during the early part of the week it was raining hard for some time this morning. I expect that it will be upto the top, at least, again by the morning.
