For some reason (possibly stupidity) I hadn't even considered the bloated Trent as being the cause. Sneeked in a couple of hours this evening before hayfever got the better of me. River was still a few inches up with plenty of colour (further upstream from Ratcliffe this time). Had one around 9ish plus the obligatory kamikaze chub. There were no parasites on these fish. I took a photo of the parasite, this is it:

Posts: 68 (19/06/07 23:09) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	just back from a quick evening session, river still very coloured but at around normal winter level. lots of debris coming down, including what looked like a complete reed bed! couple of chub knocks in the first swim but i moved for the last half hour to another swim i just had a 'feeling' about. within 5 mins of chucking out, had an 8-12, looked in cracking condition and none of those parasites.

At the moment like everywhere else with that little bit of extra water, the Doves fishing quite well. I've had 8 in 11 hours fishing during the middle of the day, just using meat and hemp. When you come the river will be low and clear, then it'll be just a case of feeding a few pellets and watching, the barbel show themselves quite easily. Regards Neil

Very hard going only 1 barbel in 4 hours!!! Think the barbel were full up been feeding like mad for the last week. The peg you caught from is an excellent area to see barbel when clear, just put a bit of bait between the two small bushes and you'll see loads of fish. BTW Don't they go well

Fished the Dove on Friday, river slightly up and quite coloured, had a cracking day roving around a couple of differen't stretches. Fished a swim for 20mins after putting a bit of bait in, no action so droppered some more bait in and returned after an hour, dropped in spot again and within 30secs rod hammered over, great fight which resulted in a stunning 11lbs fish my best from the Dove so far. Carried on moving around and caught others of 10lbs 2oz, 9.2lbs,8lbs, three 7's and three 6's. Stu

Barbel evident in several swims rolling but not taking hookbaits, sat it out until 1am for just one take and my first double of the season at 10-8. Well pleased but very slow going, stick at it they are still there!

River down a couple of inches, still coloured but not much weed coming through now. Fished two swims for one fish of 7lb'ish, packed early as I forgot my coat and was soaked by 10.30pm. Glad for my walking boots on the walk back to the car in the mud and heavy rain. Highlight was seeking a cuckoo as I walked down in the evening. Good luck.
