Yes, I plan to make it a regular annual event - 1st Sunday in September
I'll put together an announcement when I get a minute - I've been rather busy recently after my recent "double"

The 3rd Annual Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge will be held at Cherryfields, Newton-on-Ouse on Sunday, 7th September 2008. More details nearer the time (and on the new thread because this one will be archived in the new season!) R. |

2008 Barbel Challenge Update | ||

Hi guys,
I spoke to the Chairman of newton Anglers' Club last night and have booked the whole of the Cherryfields stretch on the 7th September. This means we have the whole stretch to ourselves! It also means there is no need to purchase day tickets. However, there will be a small charge to cover the booking fee. Once I get more idea of numbers I'll decide on the actual figure but, to give you some idea, if there are ten of us it will be £4.00 each. Cheers, R. |

I note on another website that there have been one or two recent sightings of a seal[s] on the upper Ouse [ at Rawcliffe and Newton on Ouse respectively ] . I walk the river frequently and have not spotted anything , anyone shed any light on this ? |

I sighted and reported an illegal angler at the back of the campsite below Linton Lock today.
I live in hope that one of these days I'll get a return call from the EA telling me they've nicked someone. Also, I was chatting to a boat owner polishing his gin palace at the mooring below the lock and he told me he'd see quite a few anglers between there an York - one pair even bombarded his boat with mud! I thought that was rather cheeky - fishing out of season and *still* thinking they had more rights to the river than the boaters! R. |
