Would you say that Caythorpe is an easy stretch as i drive past Caythorpe to get to the Start & Garter stretch? I really need to get a bend in my rod as my confidence is slowly ebbing away and knowing that there are Barbel in the vacinity would do it no halm at all.

Posts: 144 (09/07/07 18:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi all Coming down from the north to fish the trent in a few weeks,one river always wanted to fish since i was a kid,mates uncle lives down that way,lives near retford he taking me and a mate on some club water during the day,but cant night fish.So was thinking of doing Collingham on the night and next day then travelling back.I can print off route planner how to get to Collingham,so if anybody can email or pm me details of the place would be great,how to get to the river from Collingham,can you park car near where you fish,is it safe as will be by myself when go there,where you get day tickets from etc. thanks phil

Have only ever saw anglers fishing the car park pegs or the first few in the near field. does anyone fish down stream going towards Hazleford or further up towards gunthorpe. River lever is getting back to normal at .47m above and falling according to the EA this morning. I'm hoping for a fish as been 3 times to various sections of the Trent since season started and had nowt!

Ive tried for four years to catch a double figure barbel from the river and up till now considered myself to be the unluckyist trent angler on the banks. However, this week has been fantastic for me, from monday last I landed fish of 8lb 11oz , 9lb 3oz, 10lb 7oz, 10lb 13oz, 11lb 2oz, then a whopping 13lb 12oz !, as well as numerous smaller barbel estimated between 4 and 6 pound. I must also add a 6lb Sturgeon to the fishing diary! , this was caught from the same swim as the 10.13, a real oddity for the river but hopefully the angling press will publish it. After years of trying I have finally got some decent fish to my name that I can be proud of. Thanks to all, ANDY.

Had a few chub & bream, 2 barbs of 3lb & a mirror of 18lb 1oz. The carp took at least 40 yds of line, and i had to jump a fence & jog downstream after him. Funnily enough about 10 mins before the bite i could have sworn i saw a common of about 10lb swirl in the margins in front of me. Never heard of carp taken from this stertch before, could the flooding pushed them downstream?

Its £5 for a day ticket and you can park the car right behind the peg you are fishing. I think its called something farm. Can anybody help at all? Its supposed to be full fo Barbel Cheer in advance
