'fished' downstream from Ashurst - more later.
Really surprised how few guys out - even the weir was quiet. Fordcombe had a couple of cars at the manor, several down at the bridge. Haven't heard of any barbs taken first night. Personally, I was at the river by 7pm, got set up. set alarm for 11.30, managed to cast out at midnight, sparko ten seconds later, woke up 4am. Went home - might as well kip in a bed...... ....trying again this weekend. Have had a great time fly fishing around balls green last couple of months. You really get to know the river when you walk down the middle of it. There are some serious snags, but some great fish-holding spots that you wouldn't be able to spot from the bank. good fishing guys. Dan |

Had one in the morning of 16th, 9lb 12oz plus 6 Chub from about 4lb to 5lb 6oz. One of the best starts I have had down on the Medway.

Made my start friday with small ashurst barbel took aliking to freelined paste. Some very good chub around also prefering paste

Made a start yesterday (Tues), downstream at Ashurst.
My first Barbel from the Medway , all of 1 1/2 lb and several chub , all on lumps of meat.Hope for bigger Barbs to come. |

Another small Ashurst fish just under 4lb but a monstous battle. No sign of a blue mark but the size of fish must be around that which the stock fish are acheiving now. Feel priviledged to fish the river looking so good

Fished downstream of Ashurst this morning and connected with a beautiful 3lb Barbel on meat.
It was like fishing in Willie Wonkers factory, in a river of chocolate. First time on the Medway this season and had forgotton what a lovely river it is, set in beautiful surroundings and not sole to be seen, except in the wierpool that is! |

Hey meatman I didn't know the Medway had any sole in it! Might need to go to Dover for them. Sorry mate but sad old blokes like me laugh at anything and by the way I think you meant SOUL. Good to see you connected with a good 'un in difficult conditions.

 Sorry it's the medication you know.  I take it the Medway is up and coloured then? Banks are probably treacherous as well. Nice Summer we're having isn't it!!

oaksey,yeah i know mate,its getting beyoung the joke now,myself and david redfearn had a good night last night,met up with jez.had good few few fish.im probabaly gonna hit the thames tomorrow.then probably wont be out until after next weekend,let me know how you get on,and we will have to meet uo soon,,all the best and good luck,,,,.luke
