Help | ||

I`m hoping to take my little lad to sprotborough to try and catch his first barbel. Could anybody give me some advise regarding baits, rigs etc.
Any advise would be welcome, thanks in advance for your help |

Re: Help | ||

hi rocket man, when you say little, just how little? the pegs in the weir pool are very fast flowing and all of the pegs on this length drop off in to very deep water right off the rod end.
as for bait, just the normal, meat, pellet, personly i use boilie with small pva bags of pellet. if your not into that then a heavy feeder with a little fishy groundbait and a few small pellets in will do the trick but be warned, you WILL loose some end gear so take plenty of leads/feeders, good look binner |

Thanks for that binner, he is only six years old and is a good swimmer !! but i do realise how dangerous weirpools can be.
Are the pegs near the roadbridge any good for barbel, it is about 12 years since i fished that stretch. |

Hi all The river Don in Doncaster was about a foot off the top of the flood barrier yesterday as you can see in the pic!! it did rise a little more after this picture was taken!!
Today the level is dropping as of 8am this morning it had dropped about 2ft so it should be fishable within the next few days But take great care cos the banks are extremely slippy just after the water levels drop ![]() Adie |
