like to say hello.
This is my first summer back in the UK since returning
from living abroad, therefore Ive had a long lay off
from fishing and up until last week it had been 5 years
since I last caught a Barbel.
I am now living in Ross-On-Wye so I couldnt wait for
rivers to open especially being so close to the Wye.
I have had 7 fish in the last 2 weeks, the best around
8 pounds, however I have been out virtualy every
night for the last week, of them 7 fish, 4 were taken
after dark in one session and 3 on another session at dusk.
So you can see Ive blanked a hell of a lot, including
my last 4 sessions.
I admit to not being an expert in this field so would like
to ask if Im doing anything wrong.
my rig is pretty crude straight through 4 pound line
(my rod seems flexible enough to cope) one BB shot
attached to mainline as stop for cage swimfeeder with
hemp & crumb gbait,
usually at about 18-24 inches from hook, I use size
8 or 6 hook with ordinary luncheon meat or flavoured
(majic meat).
Is this rig to crude?
do I need to start using hair rigs?
What do people think about flavoured Meat v's ordinary
meat? (I dont seem to notice a lot of difference).
How do I join the Barbel Society?
By the way the section of the Wye I fish is at Belmont
Golf Course, near Hereford, day tickets cost 4.50 from
the golf club.
There are plenty of Barbel here, last night someone had a
12 pounder and on my night session I lost a monster.
sorry this message is so long
cheers for now
